What will we see on Friday and Saturday?
A one-part show with children, teens, and adults on the theme of animals. But I'm not dressing anyone up! We're focusing more on animal attitudes and postures to work on spinal mobility, to get the whole body moving by drawing inspiration from animal movements.
Will there also be choreographies that were selected for the national choreographic competition?
Yes, there are four choreographies that were selected for the national competition. A solo, a duet that received several awards at the regional competitions and was noticed by choreographers, a teen group, and a young adult group.
The final rehearsals are like the magic of a sorcerer's apprentice.
How do you manage to make sure everyone finds their place for Friday night?
I don't have a secret! I try to find, through the work we do throughout the year, what they want to express. I try to give them confidence, to teach them to look at themselves, to look at others. I try to allow them to express their strongest qualities. And at a certain point in the year, an idea emerges. I wanted them to work on mobility, and we started with the movement of animals. We experiment, we try things out together, and we're carried along by their commitment. Then, I explain everything to them in detail, where they fit into the gala, what they're dancing. And then I trust them, and during the dress rehearsal, everything finally comes together. But I don't have a formula; I hope it works well again this year!
