Welcome to the Hautes-Combes du Jura region. In the heart of the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park, this Nordic area will delight lovers of wide open spaces, protected and far from the hustle and bustle of big cities. One of the special features of the Hautes-Combes is the connection of the villages in this area: crisscrossing between the villages on cross-country skis or snowshoes is child's play thanks to the large network of groomed trails. The charm of the Hautes-Combes will amaze you when you come across its tall, majestic spruce trees, crossing the dolines of the deep valleys that will make your head spin in the direction of the unmissable Monts Jura. Lajoux, a small village of 248 inhabitants, is located in the heart of the Jura Mountains. The highest village in the Jura massif, it peaks at an altitude of 1,165 metres. In the heart of the Hautes-Combes, you will be surrounded by splendid and unique landscapes: majestic spruce and fir forests, valleys and sinkholes shaping the territory, all with a view of the unmissable Jura Mountains. In winter, the snow-covered valleys take on their white coat allowing for a wide variety of activities: cross-country skiing outings, snowshoeing, first downhill skiing slides thanks to the ski lift in the heart of the village or as part of a course with the French Ski School via the snow wire (belonging to the ESF and dedicated exclusively to courses). In Lajoux, you can also take advantage of the play area installed at the foot of the slopes to discover and learn cross-country skiing gently, walk on the pedestrian route or on the multi-activity trail, groomed and marked or try out more complex figures on the Nordic Cross.
