Interview Rocktambules

The big Rock’n’Solex day for ENIT students!

Saturday will see the return of the traditional Solex and Rocktambules race day, organized by the engineering students of the 46th graduating class of ENIT. We met them in the midst of preparations with Jérémie Gasparotto, president of their association.

What will you be offering us on Saturday?

All day long, there will be the 32nd edition of the 6 Hours of Tarbes, the big Solex race at the Kennedy Center, next to the Exhibition Center. In the morning, we welcome the participants, then there are the practice sessions, and at 12:30 pm, the six-hour race begins with plenty of entertainment for the spectators. And in the evening, there's the 17th Rocktambules, a big concert with a rock vibe. We receive a lot of proposals from bands for this concert. So we discussed it amongst ourselves to create a program that fits within the budget, of course, that we like, and that will please as many people as possible. We've chosen Natty, the bassist from Sinsemilia, with a reggae feel, and Emzel Café, who performs French chanson in a new style. There's Otz, who was selected during the Rocktambules talent showcase we organized in early March, and Landa's, who already played at the off-festival we organized last year.

What does this day represent for you?

It's already a big challenge! We had already organized the off-festival when we were in our first year. But this is on a whole other level, with 1,200 spectators expected at the concert and a budget of €30,000. It's good learning to prepare us for organizing the gala when we're in our fifth year!

Above all, it's a great way to bring together people from ENIT and from outside for a day that ends with a great Rocktambules evening. Our reward would be hearing that it was a fantastic concert.

Does this event also allow you to learn your craft?

Absolutely! We learn to work together. There are about a hundred of us in the 46th graduating class association. We've divided up the responsibilities and work in groups. We're also learning how to organize ourselves, plan ahead, manage a budget, and network. All these contacts with companies are essential for our engineering training. It's beneficial for us. The alumni even tell us it's indispensable!
