What is "Hillbilly des Coteaux de Gascogne"?
It's a name we invented to describe the style of music we play: rock 'n' roll with influences we particularly love, like Southern Culture on the Skids, with lyrics in French that talk about things from our region.
How did the band come about?
The band is relatively new, having started working together in January 2011. I started with Alex on drums, whom I'd known for a long time. Then Julien joined on vocals, and we completed the band with Pierre on double bass; he also plays in Patator. Our first concert was in Pinas, for the ADN association. After that, we mainly played locally, in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste. We also played in Pau, for the Arts d'Aure festival in Arreau, and in the Basque Country.
Friday is the Celtic, and after that?
We're pretty excited to be playing at the Celtic because it's a venue that hosts a lot of bands, both local and from further afield. We're also happy to be playing for this audience. Then on June 1st, we'll be with UncommonMenFromMars at the Maison du Savoir in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste, and in Arreau for the Fête de la Musique. In the longer term, we'd like to record a CD.
