We have seen Cinelandia

A superb return to Le Parvis on Friday evening for Alfredo Arias. After his film *Tattoo*, which thrilled the Tarbes audience three years ago, he offered us a wonderful, whimsical, and nostalgic dive into Argentine cinema of the 1960s. Not into the grand history of cinema, that of directors like Carlos Sorín or Leopoldo Torre Nilsson, who received a Silver Bear in Berlin, but rather a more modest, intimate, and popular cinema: that of *Besos Brujos*, *El Crimen de oribe*, and the incredible—and very free—Argentine adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's *La Dame aux Camélias*, who could hardly have imagined what his novel would become. And finally, *Carne*, with its slaughterhouse worker systematically raped on cold meat carcasses, played in the film by Isabel Sarli, known as Coca, and on the stage of Le Parvis by Andrea Ramirez, her breasts exposed in an extravagant flamenco dress. Four cinematic disasters, and as many opportunities seized by Alfredo Arias to breathe new life into these memories of Argentina with a healthy dose of humor and irony that sheds new light on these cinematic monstrosities. An hour and a half of show, somewhere between theater and cabaret, that needed little to sweep us away—just a bit of music, vibrant colors, and plenty of humor. This formula, once again, captivated the Tarbes audience, who were swept off their feet by the verve and irony of the Argentinian master. A superb finale to the 2014 Comedy Crimes Festival!
