Quartier de l'Arsenal (Tarbes)
Former military industrial zone founded in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Auguste Verchère de Reffye after the French defeat, the Tarbes Arsenal was integrated into the Groupement Industriel de l'Armée de Terre (GIAT) in 1971. A succession of social plans emerged. continued from 1987 until 2004 when Giat Industrie became the company Nexter, and the Tarbes site permanently closed. The site will then be redeveloped with a cinema, numerous bars and restaurants. It is also a district where an industrial activity is developing.
