Who are Astataboops?
It's a female trio performing love songs. There's Céline Thibaud, the circus performer of the group. She's dabbled in a bit of everything, from the Lido, the Toulouse circus school, to the Ballet de Marseille with Marie-Claude Pietragalla. She's also worked extensively with tightrope walking and clowning. Astataboops also includes Maryline Petioch, an actress who also works with puppetry and has done a lot of work on shows for children. And finally, there's me, a self-taught artist from the field of nature-based entertainment. We met, we have a lot in common, and we started working together!
After transforming La Gespe into a cabaret last year, are you now tackling the Celtic?
Yes! It's actually the second time. We really enjoy playing in small venues like the Celtic because there's a real connection, a closeness with the audience. The cabaret aspect of Astataboops works well in this setting; it's a format where there's less distance between the stage and the audience. A friendly, even intimate atmosphere, where confidences are possible. With cabaret, anything goes!
How far will you go?
We're going to explore the local area. We'll be at the Les Montagn'arts festival on June 25th, at the Maison du Péré in Arrens Marsous. We'll be doing the "Musical Markets" this summer, and in the fall we'll be touring Toulouse. And then we'll think about what the Dévissez vers ça company will do after Astataboops. We'll be working on a new show starting at the end of the summer. Each of us will be returning to our first loves: Cécile, the rope, and me, musical composition…
