Who is Tastÿ?
We're a four-piece band: Tim Abbadie on vocals, Olivier Pain on guitar, Kevin Briard on drums, and me on bass. We play an energetic mix of rock and funk, influenced by the early 90s fusion scene, with bands like Rage Against the Machine, Primus, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. So far, we've mainly played shows in Paris, but we've started playing elsewhere, in Lille, at a scout festival near Liège in Belgium, and now we're coming to play in the southwest with three dates: La Rochelle, Toulouse, and Tarbes.
Speaking of which, you're from Tarbes! Is this a homecoming?
Yes, it is, and it was important to us to find an opportunity to come back and play in our home region. Tim is from Lannemezan, and I'm from Tarbes. This is where it all started, where we formed a band as high school students at Jean Dupuy High School. I left for Paris right after graduation in 2004 to study music, and Tim joined me three years later. So we're happy to be back here, to play in our hometown, and to share this moment with our families, loved ones, and friends.
Are you the Parisians of the Celtic?
That's true, it's quite paradoxical. When we arrive in Paris, we're people from the southwest! And here we are, joining a band that's from Paris. But hey, the Celtic is kind of home for us too; it's a bar where we used to hang out quite often because it's the go-to spot for the Tarbes alternative scene, next to La Gespe. So we thought it was only natural to come and play here since we spent a lot of time there. We should have a great evening, with the Kévin Denard Blues Band opening.
