Ibrahim Maalouf - Le Parvis (Ibos)

Ibrahim Maalouf’s superb show at the Parvis

Ibrahim Maalouf was at the Parvis. A concert that will be remembered for its conviviality and in the ears for its musicality.

The highlight of the 2012 Jazz Métis, Ibrahim Maalouf's concert on the Parvis stage lived up to his reputation as a rising jazz star, his victory in the Instrumental Revelation category, and his performances at Jazz In Marciac. A true show that began with the first act, where Ibrahim Maalouf explained why he had chosen Isabelle Sörling, how he had met her, what had attracted her, and what he had disliked. He soon joined her on stage to add his trumpet to the dobro accompanying the Swedish singer. Ibrahim Maalouf established a true bond with the Tarbes audience. The rest of the concert was in the same spirit.

Over two hours of concert in the mixed atmosphere of Ibrahim Maalouf. A superb journey between jazz, rock, and oriental inspiration for this trumpeter born in Lebanon before his family came to France to flee the war. A personal journey that has nourished the music of his trilogy, which began five years ago with Diaspora, continued with Diachronism, and ended last year with a superb Diagnostic that blends inspirations and which he explores with his famous quarter-tone trumpet that escapes purely Western standards. A journey that culminates on the Parvis stage with a performance of "Beyrut" full of emotion and authenticity. And Ibrahim Maalouf is already continuing his journey with "Wind," released last week. The superb concert he offered us Thursday evening makes us want to follow him!

After all Springville

Miet Warlop

Miet Warlop's After all Springville is a funny, strange show. A baroque universe where images are like building blocks that allow the viewer to make sense of what they see. Or not.
