Which bands are you playing this fall?
On Saturday night, there will be two bands. Aghast, a local band that's been around for quite a while. They're not kids; they've released several albums with energetic and very effective punk rock. Dust, from the Vendée region, will also be playing, in the same vein. Neither of them is pursuing a professional career. They have day jobs; playing and doing concerts like this is more of a passion for them. We're going to have a great time!
How many concerts does the Celtic host each year?
In September, there will be 15 concerts and more than 20 bands. It's like that all year round. We must be reaching 150 or 200 concerts each year. I would find it so boring to only be here to serve beer. The bar helps finance the concerts; that's really how I see it, not the other way around.
What kinds of music can we listen to?
There are all kinds of styles. We're opening the season with punk rock. We'll have Noise Derviche with Chausse-Trappe next Thursday. After that, there will be pop-rock, acoustic punk, hardcore punk, and hip hop with Monsieur Tristan. There are also some unusual combinations, like L'Étrangleuse with a harp and a guitar. I'm really open to all styles!
With the Not a Pub association, you go beyond just organizing concerts!
I'm the treasurer of the association. We help bands release albums. Four or five CDs have already been released, and two more are coming: Dispenser the Dispenser very soon and Whisky and Weed at the beginning of next year. We also help writers, with one book that was completely funded by the association and another that was funded in partnership with other people.
