Just a few months after its premiere at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier, the Comédie Française will be performing at Le Parvis on Wednesday and Thursday evenings with "Bérénice," directed by Guy Cassiers. This director is well known to the Parvis audience, having already impressed with his productions of "Redeemed Blood" (2006) and "The Dry and the Wet" by Jonathan Littell (2017). He returns to Le Parvis with his second production for the Comédie Française. Following "Dostoevsky and His Demons" in 2021, he staged Jean Racine's "Bérénice" last February. Télérama praised the production, noting that "Guy Cassiers masterfully captures the essence of Racine's tragedy, intertwining the beauty of the alexandrine verse with the ferocity of the emotions in a remarkably modern way." We are eager to see how, under Guy Cassiers' direction, Jérémy Lopez, playing Titus, will face his destiny as Emperor of Rome when he breaks his marriage promise to Bérénice, portrayed by Suliane Brahim. Or perhaps it will be Bérénice who rejects Titus. A great play, a production by a leading figure in Flemish theater, and a top-notch cast. This promises to be a truly exceptional performance. Only a few tickets remain for both performances.
