The 31st edition of the Tales in Winter festival begins Saturday at the MDA in Tarbes. Two weeks of performances throughout the department will celebrate storytelling and transport audiences to worlds entirely created by their imaginations. Six storytellers and 26 events will cater to all audiences, from workshops for young children in schools to storytelling for adults. The festival kicks off with the older audience, featuring "He Becomes Her, in the Skin of a Panther" by Toulouse storyteller Anne-Gaëlle Duvochel. This storytelling performance, as its title suggests, is aimed at teenagers and adults. "We really wanted to program this tale, but we needed to find a unique place for it," explains Michèle Carayre-Bouchet, who programs the festival's shows. "And the opening night came about quite naturally with this story about a character who wants to become a woman." Anne-Gaëlle Duvochel's storytelling invites us to follow the journey of a gender-diverse adventurer and share the secrets of someone who wanted to become a woman. Between erudition and doubt, humor and tragedy, the storyteller and her story are so unique that beyond the performance, we are promised a genuine encounter. Join us this Saturday to follow Anne-Gaëlle Duvochel's voice in what promises to be a beautiful human adventure.
