We have seen Drôles d'oizo

This week, buses full of kindergarteners crowded around the Théâtre des Nouveautés. These very young spectators had come to see the "Funny Birds" from the Charente-based company Sing Song, at the invitation of the Hautes-Pyrénées branch of the Ligue de l’Enseignement (League of Education). They had plenty of time to learn about the spelling of the word "Oiseaux" (Birds). And that, after all, it was the word itself that started it, with this strange pronunciation in which none of the letters are audible. Like the birds that have landed on the stage, inviting us to share a glimpse of their avian daily lives. Two feathered actresses, whom we imagine sometimes as wading birds, sometimes as sparrows or barnyard fowl, delicately traverse the stage, torn between their curiosity to discover the world around them and their timid nature. The birdsong soon blends with the music. The silence in the theater testifies that the young spectators have quickly taken flight with these whimsical birds. They've come away with beautiful images they can keep in their personal picture books. After three days of performances, these birds will take flight to continue their migration to the land of the storks. Before landing and building what will undoubtedly be a cozy nest in the heart of the Parisian Marais district at the Théâtre Essaïon. In the end, we, too, are happy to fly away with them!
