Who is this "Neither Seen Nor Known"?
I'm keeping you guessing! It's still a mystery… Let's just say it's "Manu Hidden" on drums, "Django Bernard" singing and playing guitar, "Didier Super Genius" on washboard, saw, and other instruments, and "Yvette Ornière" on accordion and vocals. "Oui-Oui Not Dead" is also on sound. We play humorous and festive French songs, compositions that reflect our lives, depending on our mood. There are also deeper themes, but we're not preachy! People come to listen to us to forget about work and their worries! We're in the same vein as Les Orgres and other alternative French music groups.
How was your time on stage?
It happened very quickly: we arrived, put down our instruments, and were ushered onto the stage! And just like that, we didn't see anything. I'd already performed with another group a few years ago, so I knew it would all go by very quickly! We presented "Les fumeurs" (The Smokers), a song we wrote following the January 1st law banning smoking. It's one of our first compositions, quite humorous, and we usually put it at the beginning of a concert, after a few songs to really kick off the show. We saw that the jury was very attentive and the audience receptive. We'll see how it goes tonight!
What are you expecting from the Pic d'Or?
We came to showcase our work in front of a jury and an audience that includes organizers and programmers. It allows us to make valuable contacts with professionals. We haven't had time to see the other candidates yet, but we should have the opportunity to jam at the end of the auditions, while we wait for the day's results!
