Can you tell us more about this Nougaro tribute?
We're all Nougaro fans. We want to keep his songs, his words, his poetry alive. But without trying to imitate him, with our own identity and our own resources, with two voices, a guitar, a clarinet, and a double bass. A fairly stripped-down setup to let the lyrics themselves take center stage. And then, between songs, we also share parts of his life, with anecdotes, the stories behind some of the songs. There's a lot to tell!
How is the audience receiving this jazzy Nougaro tribute?
The general public knows Nougaro's most famous songs, but we also play lesser-known pieces, like "Prisonnier des nuages" (Prisoner of the Clouds) or "Rimes" (Rhymes). People enjoy hearing the songs they know, discovering new ones, and they're interested in what we talk about between songs.
Is the Celtic a good venue for this format?
Yes, even though this show is designed for venues with a capacity of up to 100 people, like the Chaudron where we played last year. But the Celtic offers the same intimacy and Sunday night concert experience for an audience that's looking for jazz rather than metal. After Wednesday's concert in Juillan as part of Guy Rouquet's literary festival, it will be a good opportunity to reconnect with the Tarbes audience.
