Smashed - Le Celtic (Tarbes)

Smashed at the Celtic Pub

This weekend will be a busy one at Celtic. After a bluesy Thursday night, the program promises two energy-packed evenings, like the death metal of Smashed, whose guitarist Sébastien Louis answered our questions.

Smashed

How can we introduce Smashed?

It's a death metal band that's been around since 2006. There are five of us: two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, and a singer. We were all immersed in hard rock as teenagers, and we wanted to play music, this music. We found each other online, first me and Mathieu. It clicked immediately; we had a lot of ideas in common. Then Momo on bass, Cyril on drums, and Julien on vocals.

In eight years, how has the band evolved musically?

We've asserted our musical identity in our compositions. We push the project a little further each time by challenging ourselves. Finding a catchy riff and playing music that can be more complex to push our limits.

And what's your mood coming to Celtic?

We're very happy to be back in Tarbes. We've played in Toulouse, Bordeaux, and recently in Spain, but it's been two years since we last played in Tarbes. Saturday's concert will allow us to reconnect with our friends and the Tarbes crowd. It'll be a real celebration, especially since we'll be with the Bordeaux band Breakdust, who have a great reputation! And on Saturday, we'll be presenting a five-track mini-CD celebrating eight years of Smashed, which will be available at this concert.

What are your plans?

First of all, we want to continue playing, always a little further, a little more often. We spent eight years without a record, mainly thinking about live performances. Now, we want to bring this demo to life, to get it heard everywhere. Maybe it will lead to recording an album.
