Interview Laurent CarleFabien Duscombs - Le Celtic (Tarbes)
Laurent Carle in a duo with Fabien Duscombs at the Celtic Pub
Make no mistake. When a musician who can seamlessly transition from organ to jazz improvisation meets a drummer of Fabien Duscombs' caliber, the result is nothing short of spectacular. A few days before their Saturday set, we asked Laurent Carle a few questions to find out what they had in store for us.

You move in very different worlds. Which one will you and Fabien Duscomb take us into on Saturday night?
It's a rather unique world because everything will be improvised. We haven't met, we haven't rehearsed together. We have diametrically opposed worlds, and we're embarking on an informal musical adventure that will unfold in the moment.
And you know each other!
We know each other very well. We've already done this three times, and each time it's been a success. When we listen to the recording, we find some quite surprising and relevant musical elements. The audience is always quite enthusiastic.
Is the Celtic audience ready for this?
Absolutely. They're a very open audience, they love adventure. We always get a lot of support from them; they react, they listen, and we have a great connection with them. Last time, some people even started dancing when a groove kicked in.
Is a jam session the beginning of something bigger, a meeting of minds, or a musical interlude?
It's a bit of everything. It's not like a typical jam session, which is usually very structured, with chord progressions, where everyone plays their own solo. Here, we come with our own experiences; it's a spontaneous conversation. It's also a form of recreation because we arrive with our hands in our pockets, just our instruments and everything we've been through. We share it all.
